Thoughts about 2011
My year as president is almost over, our year runs from November 1 to October 31.
It has been a busy first year for me and has shown me several things that only a first year president must learn. The group is very able to work on projects of their choosing without having to be pushed into it. This was shown in the way that our June yardsale went. The abilities shown in the job of getting outside venders and the community support for the event, the assigning of available spaces for outside venders. The organizing of the basket raffle ( we had 30+baskets that chances were sold for), The enthusiasm shown by the members who manned the basket tent (the ingenuity shown, when rain was imminent, to waterproof the baskets). I was also impressed with the historical knowledge of the individuals who worked the museum for these 2 days and the willingness to spend whatever time each visitor needed to answer their questions and explain points of interest on the displays. The individuals that set up the displays did a wonderful job to make them interesting and clever enough for visitors to learn and ask questions about them.
We have continued to improve our electronic abilities to gather and store historical information about the community. We have completed the renovations to the old schoolhouse to make it more useable and comfortable the entire year. My THANKS to the Sheldon Town Board and Ivenergy for their support these past years.
We will complete our year with the election of officers and 2 Board of Trustee seats whose terms expire this year on the 3rd Thursday in October at 7pm in the schoolhouse.
I hope to see a great number of members there (visitors are always welcome).
